All Graduate School students must utilize the Graduate Student Portal in MyUW to add, change, or discontinue any doctoral minor or graduate/professional certificate. To apply to this minor, log in to MyUW, click on Graduate Student Portal, and then click on Add/Change Programs. Select the information for the doctoral minor for which you are applying.

The M S & E department offers a minor in Materials Science and Engineering for students studying towards a Ph.D. in other disciplines. The doctoral minor consists of at least 9 credits (typically 3 courses) of M S & E courses. Within those nine credits, 6 must be numbered 400 or above, and 3 must be numbered 700 or above. Students must earn a B or higher in every course. Graduate coursework from other institutions cannot be used to satisfy the coursework requirements.
